‘The Speaking Body’ – first in a series of RESEO Continuous Professional Development for workshop leaders, animators and education managers
September 27th and 28th saw two days of dance and movement in education practice generously hosted by RESEO member Maison de la Danse and the Centre National Danse Lyon, with the collaboration of the Biennale de la Danse, The Nureyev Foundation and PREAC Danse et Arts du mouvement in Rhône-Alpes.
Members came together from 8 different countries in this opportunity to deepen professional knowledge, and share experience and practice with European colleagues. Workshops guided by Boris Lozneanu, Anne Decoret-Ahiha, Erin Sanchez and Clare Guss-West provided the space to explore artistic process without the expectation of an end product. Boris Lozneanu explored reflex actions and focus in play, giving precious time for self observation for embodied learning. Erin Sanchez explored the psychology of movement and self-motivation, whilst Clare Guss-West led us through a visceral workshop, an holistic exploration of movement, energy and focus. Anne Decoret-Ahiha led us back to our external objective, guiding the experience of the public in the ‘Spectator’s Warm Up’.
The two days were rounded off with a visit to a reflective exhibition on the development of dance and the relationship of the choreographer to their material, entitled ‘Corps Rebels’ [Rebel Bodies] at the Musée des Confluences, Lyon.
A huge thank you to Mathieu Rietzler of the Maison de La Danse for his dedication to developing this RESEO partnership.
