La Monnaie/ De Munt

Outreach, participation and co-creation

A place of encounter for subscribers, regulars or the simply curious, music lovers, students and teachers, singers and supporters of a bridge between two worlds, famous artists or rising stars, whatever your age and whoever you are, La Monnaie is open to all!

Aims:

You are not born an opera enthusiast, you become one! That’s why it’s important to give children and young people the opportunity to discover La Monnaie in a fun and affordable way. Our workshops, young audience productions and kid’s concerts are so powerful that we reach around around 15000 young people a year.

A flagship project:

The opera and community project Ali depicts Ali Abdi Omar’s escape from Somalia at age 12, blending electronic music, instruments, and dance. Involving 10 Brussels youths, it celebrates the resilience of a young boy forced, like so many others, to leave his family and home in order to survive.

Why they are members of RESEO:

As a founding member, we want to continue to support the network as a place for reflection and exchange.
