Münchener Biennale

Germany

The “Munich Biennale for New Music Theater” is a world premiere festival that seeks and accompanies change and specifically explores contemporary forms of movement and change. The invited artists trace transformations in the world, in society, in the family and in the bodies and brains of individuals.

Aims

The festival remains true to Hans Werner Henze’s founding vision by encouraging experimentation, developing new forms and promoting transcultural cultural exchange. The focus is on works that address current themes, styles and issues and are characterised by the diverse personal and cultural backgrounds of the participating artists. Collaboration with international institutions, the use of new media and the integration of traditional and contemporary elements open up innovative approaches to a pluralistic, synergetic music theatre landscape that radiates far beyond Munich.

Why we’re RESEO members

Share our experience and knowledge, discuss together how we can bring the genre of opera/music theatre back into the heart of society. International cooperation is essential for this.
